Winnipeg, MB – The Players Cup, a Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada event, announced last night that over $66,000 has been generated for local children’s initiatives in Winnipeg in 2015. This year’s total also represents a milestone for the tournament as it has now given back over $400,000 to local charities since 2010.

On behalf of their newly created Play Through Foundation, event organizers presented $25,000 each to their 2015 primary charitable partners, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Winnipeg and SCCY Centre (Specialized Services for Children and Youth) at the second annual Plaid Party held last night at The Norwood Hotel.

“Our organization is honored to be affiliated with a first class event like the Players Cup and to be a recipient of the Play Through Foundation,” said Ron Brown, CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg. “The level of support provided to us gives us more resources to provide additional opportunities to the children and youth we work with across Winnipeg.”

“Our opportunity to give back is a testament to the sense of community in both our sponsors and our volunteers.” said Ryan Hart, Executive Director of the Play Through Foundation and the Players Cup. “To be able to work along side and learn about what organizations like the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg and SSCY Centre do for kids in our city is truly inspiring.”

“As a Tour our commitment has long been to give back to the communities in which we play.” said Jeff Monday, President of Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada. “The Players Cup has embraced this concept whole heartedly. We look forward to working with them to build on this year’s success for many years to come.”

100% of the net proceeds of the Players Cup go to The Play Through Foundation and are committed to children’s initiatives in Winnipeg’s inner-city. The primary charitable partners for the 2016 Players Cup will be formally announced in the spring.
