The Manitoba government said thousands of kids are getting a head start on the new school year thanks to learning enrichment programs.
The province said thanks to a $400,000 investment in five programs, students in grades one to 12 have received extra support to improve their learning skills over the summer.
The government said it’s invested $400,000 in five summer learning enrichment programs.
“Summer learning opportunities provide critical support and give students a head start on the school year so they can stay on top of their studies and get the most out of their time in school,” said Education Training Minister Ian Wishart.
Wishart said the programs were designed to curb students from falling behind over the summer.
The minister said the summer programs that the government will invest in include,
• Frontier College’s Summer Literacy Camp $165,000
• Newcomers Youth Educational Support Services Coalition $80,000
• Boys and Girls Club of Winnipeg’s Community School Investigators Summer Learning Program $75,000
• Pembina Trails School Division’s Ignite3 program $80,000
• University College of the North’s into the Wild program $40,000
